beyond Land Cruisers and a few select other pieces of Asian steel, I don't usually care too much for that genre. But I was up in the town I am moving to up the coast on Sunday, and spotted this Cressida with 45K miles on it, literally by a little old lady to church. I chatted with her a bit and she was very nice. Loved her car, said it has never failed her with once a year maintenance. Looks pretty good too!
I will be seeing her around, she probably has another few years left to drive, then I will have to swoop in...

I'd really like to own one one day.

If you love replacing head gaskets, you'll love the 5 and 7m's

huh is that with all of them, or just if you push them? I didn't get the indication this one was ever done unless she considers that as part of her yearly service

Try and become a friend to her maybe help her around the house from time to time. To old people nothing is more meaningful than somebody to acknowledge they exist. If you get on her good side I could see you inheriting this fine specimen of japanese perfection in the future.
Heck she's probably a killer cook too!

the 7m's out of the mx83's are waay worse. I think this is an mx73 so I think it will have the 5m which isn't nearly as bad. But yeah pretty much don't flog them and they'll be alright. If you gonna buy one, get one from granny that used it for church on Sundays and lawn bowls on Tuesday and serviced regularly. Not really my niche but maybe a cressie fan will be able to enlighten you some more. They're a pretty nice looking luxobarg and with a JZ swap pull like a bus full of school boys.

A 2JZ literally a drop in swap. uses the same motor mounts and all. if the head gasket pops just replace the whole thing.

ha don't I know it. Yeah once I make the move up there it is a very small town, especially in the winter. That is my plan. Besides, I like to help out people that need it. Though the elderly folk up in coastal Maine are pretty hardy and self sufficient. My ex's grandma is 98 and lives alone on a lake. Salty old lady right there

Cressidas are great cars. My parents had one that they put around 200k on before they gave it to my cousin to wrench on at trade school (it had the dreaded "doesn't start" issue). He put about $200 in parts into it and sold it off for like $5k.

damn so there is some value to them too for what they are. Cool. I will have to do some research on them

My neighbor owns a white model that is nearly, if not completely, in mint condition. It carries the license plate "CRSSIDA." I'll upload some pics of it later.
